Matador Records has released a soundtrack album for the hybrid documentary/biopic/concert movie Pavements. The album features live and rehearsal recordings from the indie rock band Pavement‘s 2021 reunion tour, cast recordings from the Slanted! Enchanted! jukebox musical, scenes from the fake biopic Range Life, as well as well as dialogue snippets from the film. Visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download the soundtrack. A physical release is also in the works. Listen to several songs from the soundtrack below. Pavements is written and directed by Alex Ross Perry and stars Joe Keery, Jason Schwartzman, Nat Wolff, Logan Miller, Fred Hechinger, Griffin Newman, Zoe Lister-Jones, Michael Esper, Tim Heidecker and Kathryn Gallagher. The movie shows the band preparing for their sold-out 2022 reunion tour while simultaneously tracking the preparations for a musical based on their songs, a museum devoted to their history, and a big-budget Hollywood biopic inspired by them. The docufiction feature, which premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival, was released in select theaters over the last couple of weeks by Utopia and will be expanding nationwide this Friday, June 6.
