Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse, Enola Holmes, Steve JobsKing Arthur: Legend of the SwordThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.Birds of Prey) has been tapped to score the upcoming romantic comedy Materialists. The film is written and directed by Celine Song (Past Lives) and stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. The movie revolves around a young, ambitious New York City matchmaker who finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex. Song is also producing the project with David Hinojosa (Babygirl, Zola), Christine Vachon (Carol, Far from Heaven) and Pamela Koffler (May December, Still Alice). Materialists will be released in theaters on June 13, 2025 by A24.

Pemberton’s other upcoming projects include DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys 2 (to open in theaters on August 1, 2025), Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and two episodes of the next season of Netflix’s Black Mirror.
