The details of the first soundtrack album from Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King have been revealed. The album features the film’s original songs written by Grammy Award & Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana, In the Heights, Encanto) and performed by voice cast members including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Preston Nyman, Kagiso Lediga, Braelyn Rankins and Theo Somolu. Also included is a track performed by Lebo M who provided additional music and performances to the project. The soundtrack will be released on December 13 by Walt Disney Records. A separate “deluxe edtion” album featuring the songs and the film’s original score composed by Dave Metzger is also expected to come out this month. Mufasa: The Lion King is directed by Barry Jenkins and also stars John Kani, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter, Folake Olowofoyeku, Joanna Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Sheila Atim, Abdul Salis, Dominique Jennings & Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The movie, which explores the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, will be released in theaters nationwide on December 20 by Walt Disney Pictures.
