Kevin Lax (The First Purge, Burning Sands, Juanita) and Robert Lydecker (Lethal Weapon, Iron Fist, Sleepy Hollow) have teamed up to score the upcoming Netflix animated film Orion and the Dark. The movie is directed by Sean Charmatz (Trolls Holiday in Harmony) and features the voice talent of Jacob Tremblay and Paul Walter Hauser. The DreamWorks Animation production is based on the book of the same title by Emma Yarlett and tells the story of an average elementary school kid who is afraid of many things, including the dark, when he is whisked onto a whirlwind adventure that might just cure him of his adolescent fears. Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich) wrote the screenplay. Peter McCown is producing the project. Walt Dohrn (Trolls) and Bonnie Arnold (How to Train Your Dragon) serve as executive producers. Lax & Lydecker have previously co-scored DreamWorks Animation’s Netflix series Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. Orion and the Dark will premiere on February 2, 2024 on Netflix.
