The movie is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray and revolves around a young woman brought back to life by a brilliant and unorthodox scientist who runs off with a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Tony McNamara (The Great, Cruella) wrote the screenplay. Lanthimos and Stone are also producing the project with Ed Guiney (Room, Disobedience) and Andrew Lowe (Normal People, Chevalier). Poor Things is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 8, 2023 by Searchlight Pictures.
