Premiering on Thursday, May 18, is the Netflix original series XO, Kitty created by Jenny Han and starring Anna Cathcart, Minyoung Choi, Sang Heon Lee, Gia Kim, Anthony Keyvan and Peter Thurnwald. The show’s original music is composed by Shirley Song & Jina Hyojin An (A Tourist’s Guide to Love, The Princess Switch 3). The To All the Boys spinoff, which follows the titular teen matchmaker as she reunites with her long-distance boyfriend at the same boarding school attended by her late mother, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Also premiering on Thursday is the Netflix anime series Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune based on the sci-fi novel Yakitori by Carlo Zen and starring Taito Ban, Asami Seto, Kengo Kawanishi, Shunsuke Takeuchi, Akari Kito, Wataru Takagi, Kenjiro Tsuda, Tetsu Inada and Hatsune Miku(Saki Fujita. Japanese DJ Ken Ishii has composed the show’s original music. The series, which revolves around a young man who spends his days rebelling against an oppressive society on a future Earth and decides to enlist as an expendable Yakitori foot soldier, will be also be available to stream on Netflix.
Premiering on Friday, May 19, is the Hulu original movie White Men Can’t Jump directed by Calmatic and starring Sinqua Walls, Jack Harlow, Laura Harrier, Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor, Tamera ‘Tee’ Kissen and Vince Staples. Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Emancipation, Wonder, Ray Donovan, The Good Shepherd, The Affair) has composed the film’s original score. Premiering in the U.S. (and other international markets) on Friday is the French family comedy Astérix & Obélix: The Middle Kingdom (Astérix & Obélix: L’Empire du Milieu) directed by Guillaume Canet and stars Canet himself, Gilles Lellouche ,Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard, Jonathan Cohen and Julie Chen. The film’s original music is composed by -M- (aka Matthieu Chedid) (Tell No One, Yao, A Monster in Paris). Trésor Films & Pathé have released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score from the movie when the comedy premiered in France earlier this year.
