Premiering in the U.S. today is the Norwegian limited series War Sailor, a new version of last year’s feature of the same title, written and directed by Gunnar Vikene and starring Kristoffer Joner, Pål Sverre Hagen and Ine Marie Wilmann. The show’s original music is composed by Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, The Old Guard). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last December. Premiering on Wednesday, April 5, is the Disney+ original series The Crossover created by Kwame Alexander and starring Derek Luke, Jalyn Hall, Amir O’Neil, Sabrina Revelle, Deja Monique Cruz, Skyla I’Lece and Trevor Bush. KOVAS (On My Block, Freeridge, Boo, Bitch, Fantasy Football) has composed the show’s original music. Premiering on Thursday, April 6, is the Netflix original series Beef created by Lee Sung Jin and starring Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, David Choe, Joseph Lee, Ashley Park, Young Mazino, Patti Yasutake, Bernard White, Mia Serafino and Maria Bello. The show’s original music is composed by Bobby Krlic (Midsommar, Snowpiercer, The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, Beau Is Afraid, Returnal). Also premiering on Thursday is the Paramount+ original series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies developed by Annabel Oakes and starring Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Shanel Bailey, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Jason Schmidt, Madison Thompson and Jackie Hoffman. Zachary Dawes & Nick Sena (A League of Their Own, The Big Door Prize) are composing the show’s original score. Justin Tranter serves as the project’s executive music producer and has contributed multiple original songs. A first song from the show (a cover of Grease Is the Word) has already been released last month (click here to listen to the track) by Capital Records and more tracks will be released in the coming weeks.
Premiering on Friday, April 7, is the Netflix limited series Transatlantic developed by Anna Winger & Daniel Hendler and starring Gillian Jacobs, Lucas Englander, Ralph Amoussou, Cory Michael Smith, Amit Rahav, Gregory Montel, Deleila Piasko and Corey Stoll. The show’s original music is composed by Mike Ladd and David Sztanke (Keep an Eye Out, Magnetic Beats). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be announced soon. Also premiering on Friday is the faith-based drama On a Wing and a Prayer directed by Sean McNamara and starring Dennis Quaid, Heather Graham and Jesse Metcalfe. Brandon Roberts (Underwater, Chaos Walking, Motherland: Fort Salem, Unbroken: Path to Redemption) has composed the film’s original music. The movie, which follows a passenger’s journey to safely land a plane after their pilot dies unexpectedly mid-flight, was originally set to be released theatrically by Sony Pictures and will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
Another movie premiering on Friday is the musical comedy Praise This directed by Tina Gordon and starring Chloe Bailey, Philip Fornah, Anjelika Washington, Druski, Tristan Mack Wilds, Quavo, Birgundi Baker, Kiara Iman Heffner, Loren Lott, Ilario Grant, Cocoa Brown, Crystal Hayslett, Vanessa Fraction, Jekalyn Carr and Koryn Hawthorne. The film’s original score is composed by Jermaine Stegall (Coming 2 America, Senior Year). The Universal Pictures production, which follows aspiring musical superstar who is forced to join her cousin’s underdog praise team in the lead-up to a national championship competition, will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock.
Also premiering on Friday is the Hulu limited series Tiny Beautiful Things created by Liz Tigelaar based on the best-selling collection by Cheryl Strayed and starring Kathryn Hahn, Sarah Pidgeon, Quentin Plair and Tanzyn Crawford. Gabriel Mann (Modern Family, A Million Little Things, High School Musical: The Musical – The Series) & singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and Juan Ariza have composed the show’s original music. Premiering on Saturday, April 8, is the Australian fantasy adventure comedy The Portable Door directed by Jeffrey Walker and starring Sam Neill, Patrick Gibson, Christoph Waltz, Sophie Wilde, Miranda Otto, Chris Pang, Jessica De Gouw and Rachel House. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Speed (52 Tuesdays, Monolith). The movie, which revolves around two interns who begin working at a mysterious London firm and become increasingly aware that their employers are anything but conventional, just opened in Australian theaters last week and will be available to stream in the U.S. exclusively on MGM+ (and in the UK on Sky Cinema).
