Music producer Marius de Vries (Coda, Kick-Ass, Strange Magic, NavalnySucker Punch), Grammy Award-winning songwriters Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear (The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical) and Emmy Award-nominated songwriter Mark Sonnenblick (Theater Camp) have joined the music team of the upcoming biographical drama Fred & Ginger. The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F*cking World, I Am Not Okay with This) and will star Jamie Bell as Fred Astaire and Margaret Qualley as Ginger Rogers. The movie centers on a life-defining point in the Hollywood icons’ early careers when their contrasting dance styles and competitive rivalry threatened to destroy their legendary partnership. Alongside choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, De Vries, Barlow, Bear & Sonnenblick will be recreating the music and dance numbers the titular pair is famous for. Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco, A Private War) wrote the screenplay. Bell, Qualley, Amel & Entwistle are also producing the project with Automatik’s Fred Berger (La La Land, Bad Education) and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister, Midnight Special), as well as Max Minghella (Teen Spirit). Fred & Ginger is set to start shooting later this year. (Deadline)
