Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Croods: A New Age, Hotel Transylvania) has composed the original music for the upcoming thriller Cocaine Bear. The film is directed by Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels) and stars Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich, Margo Martindale, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Brooklynn Prince, Kristofer Hivju, Kahyun Kim, Christian Convery and Scott Seiss. The movie is inspired by a true story and follows an oddball group of cops, criminals, teens and tourists converging in a forest in Georgia, where a 500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow.Jimmy Warden (The Babysitter: Killer Queen) wrote the screenplay. Phil Lord & Chris Miller are producing the project with Aditya Sood (The Martian), Brian Duffield (Spontaneous), as well as Banks & Max Handelman (Pitch Perfect). Natalie Holt was originally scoring the movie. Mothersbaugh has previously collaborated with Banks on her feature directorial debut, Pitch Perfect 2 and also scored numerous projects for Lord & Miller, including The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Cocaine Bear will be released in theaters nationwide on February 24, 2023 by Universal Pictures.

Mothersbaugh also continues to score HBO Max’s Our Flag Means Death, which has been renewed for a second season and co-score FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, which will return for a fifth and sixth season.
