Premiering on Tuesday, October 18, is the HBO original documentary Mama’s Boy directed by Laurent Bouzereau and produced by Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Steven Shareshian, Darryl Frank & Justin Falvey. The film’s original music is composed by Raphaelle Thibaut (Secrets of the Whales, Introducing, Selma Blair, Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History). The Amblin Television and Playtone production, which centers on the upbringing of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk) and is based on his 2019 memoir Mama’s Boy: A Story from Our Americas, will air on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Premiering on Wednesday, October 19, is the Australian thriller The Stranger directed by Thomas M. Wright and starring Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Jada Alberts, Cormac Wright, Steve Mouzakis and Matthew Sunderland. Oliver Coates (Aftersun, Significant Other) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works. The movie, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, was released theatrically in Australia earlier this month and will be available to stream worldwide on Wednesday on Netflix.
Also premiering on Wednesday is the French Netflix limited series Notre-Dame created by Hervé Hadmar & Olivier Bocquet and starring Roschdy Zem, Caroline Proust, Simon Abkarian, Megan Northam, Alice Isaaz, Marie Zabukovec, Sandor Funtek and Frédéric Chau. The show’s original music is composed by Éric Demarsan (Le Circle Rouge, Romance, Army of Shadows, The Stone Council). Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score to be released this coming week. Premiering on Friday, October 21, is the Amazon original series The Peripheral created by Scott B. Smith and starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Jack Reynor, Gary Carr, JJ Feild, Eli Goree, Charlotte Riley, Louis Herthum, T’Nia Miller, Alexandra Billings, Adelind Horan, Alex Hernandez and Katie Leung. Mark Korven (The Witch, The Black Phone, The Lighthouse, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Them) is composing the show’s original music. Also premiering on Friday is the Netflix limited series From Scratch created by Attica & Tembi Locke and starring Zoe Saldaña, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Danielle Deadwyler, Keith David and Judith Scott. The show’s original music is composed by Laura Karpman (Ms. Marvel, What If…?, Set It Up, Paris Can Wait) and Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure).
