Kara Talve (Prehistoric Planet, The Simpsons) has been tapped to score the upcoming Hulu limited series Faraway Downs. The show is a new serialized and expanded version of Baz Luhrmann’s 2008 feature Australia scored by David Hirschfelder and starring Nicole Kidman & Hugh Jackman. Talve is composing and recording a new score for the 6-part drama, which tells the story of an English aristocrat who inherits the titular cattle ranch in Australia following the death of her husband and reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle drover to protect her property when a group of Australian cattle barons plot to take her land. The composer is scoring the adventure epic for Bleeding Fingers Music and Russell Emanuel serves as the score producer. Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet) is executive producing the 20th Television production with Catherine Martin (The Get Down), Schuyler Weiss (Elvis) and Catherine Knapman (The Great Gatsby). Faraway Downs is expected to premiere this winter on Hulu.
