Premiering tomorrow, June 6, is the HBO limited series Irma Vep created and directed by Olivier Assayas based on his 1996 movie of the same name and starring Alicia Vikander, Vincent Macaigne, Jeanne Balibar, Lars Eidinger, Devon Ross, Vincent Lacoste, Adria Arjona, Nora Hamzawi, Carrie Brownstein, Byron Bowers and Tom Sturridge. Premiering on Wednesday, June 8, is Marvel Studios’ Disney+ original series Ms. Marvel developed by Bisha K. Premiering on Thursday, June 9, is the Peacock original series Queer as Folk created by Stephen Dunn based on the British cult show of the same title created by Russell T. Davies and starring Devin Way, Fin Argus, Jesse James Keitel, CG, Johnny Sibilly and Ryan O’Connell. The show’s original music is composed by Jasha Klebe (Planet Earth II, The Black Godfather, Animal, Medal of Honor, Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes). The drama, which explores a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy, will be available to stream on Peacock.
Premiering on Friday, June 10, is the Netflix original series First Kill created by V.E. Schwab and starring Sarah Catherine Hook, Imani Lewis, Elizabeth Mitchell, Aubin Wise, Jason Robert Moore, Gracie Dzienny and Will Swenson. Kurt Farquhar (Black Lightning, The King of Queens, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Sister, Sister, Moesha) has composed the show’s original music. The drama, which revolves around a vampire and a vampire hunter who both are ready to make their first kill, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Also premiering on Friday is the animated feature Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness directed by Ben Stassen & Benjamin Mousquet and starring Jordan Tartakow, Joe Ochman, Laila Berzins and Danny Fehsenfeld. The film’s original music is composed by Puggy (The Son of Bigfoot, Bigfoot Family). 22D has released a soundtrack album featuring the Belgian band’s music earlier this year when the movie opened theatrically overseas.
