Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Gladiator, Inception) & David Fleming (Hillbilly Elegy, Blue Planet II, South of Heaven) have teamed up to co-score the upcoming Netflix original film The Unforgivable. The drama is directed by Nora Fingscheidt (System Crashers) and stars Sandra Bullock, Viola Davis, Rob Morgan, Aisling Franciosi, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal and Richard Thomas. The movie centers on a woman who is released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime and re-enters a society that refuses to forgive her past. Peter Craig (The Town, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay), Hillary Seitz (Insomnia, Eagle Eye) & Courtenay Miles (Mindhunter) wrote the screenplay base don the 3-part British mini-series Unforgiven. Graham King (The Departed, Bohemian Rhapsody) is producing the project for GK Films, alongside Bullock for Fortis Films and Veronica Ferres for Construction Film. The Unforgivable will be released in select theaters on November 24, 2021 before premiering on December 10 on Netflix.
Zimmer’s other recent and upcoming projects include Cary Fukunage’s No Time to Die & Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (both currently playing in theaters), Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick (scheduled to be released in theaters on May 27, 2022), Barry Levinson’s The Survivor, which has recently been picked up by HBO for a release in 2022, Netflix’s Army of Thieves (premiering on October 29) and Barry Jenkins’ The Lion King prequel.
