David Sardy has been hired to score the upcoming crime thriller Ida Red. The film is written and directed by John Swab (Run with the Hunted) and stars Frank Grillo, Melissa Leo, Josh Hartnett, William Forsythe, Sofia Hublitz, Deborah Ann Woll, Mark Boone Junior, Beau Knapp, Slaine and Nicholas Cirillo. The movie follows a career criminal who is battling a terminal illness while serving a 25-year prison sentence in Oklahoma and turns to her son for one last job and a chance to regain her freedom. Swab is also producing the Roxwell Films production with Jeremy M. Rosen (Charlie Says) and Robert Ogden Barnum (Margin Call, Miles Ahead). Sardy’s previous film scoring credits include End of Watch, 21, Zombieland & Zombieland: Double Tap, Bright and Premium Rush. He also recently produced albums for The Who, Rodrigo y Gabriella, Band of Horses, Unequal and the upcoming Modest Mouse record. “Ida Red has everything I love in a film, great story and great performances. It’s a rad movie,” the composer said in a statement. The movie is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2021.
