Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Pollock, Carnivale, The Biggest Little Farm) has composed the original score for the new Netflix docu-series Challenger: The Final Flight. Charles Scott IV (Sleight, Sweetheart) has written the project’s main titles theme and also provided additional music. The show is directed by Steven Leckart and Daniel Junge (A Lego Brickumentary, Being Evel) and examines the 1986 Challenger space shuttle, which tragically broke apart 73 seconds after launch as millions of Americans watched live on television. The 4-parter features interview with engineers, officials and the crew members’ families. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek) and Glen Zipper (Tread, Showbiz Kids) are executive producing the Bad Robot and Sutter Road Picture Company production. Challenger: The Final Flight is premiering today exclusively on Netflix.
Among Beal’s other recent documentary scoring projects are Oliver Stone’s docu-series JFK: Destiny Betrayed, which is currently awaiting premiere date, Anthony DiMaria’s Jay Sebring….Cutting to the Truth, which will be released on September 22 on VOD by Shout! Studios, as well as Jonah Tulis’ & Blake J. Harris’ Console Wars, which will premiere on September 23 on CBS All Access.
