Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish animated feature Elcano & Magellan: The First Voyage Around the World (Elcano & Magallanes: La primera vuelta al mundo). The album features the film’s original music composed by Joseba Beristain, conducted by Fernando Velazquez (The Orphanage, The Impossible, Mama) and performed by the Basque National Orchestra. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. Elcano & Magellan is directed by Ángel Alonso and traces the adventures of Portugal’s Fernando Magellan and Basque Juan Sebastián Elcano, the historical navigators responsible for the first circumnavigation of the Earth, completed in 1522. The animated movie was released in Spanish theaters this summer. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
