Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Toy Story 4 directed by Josh Cooley and starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger and Tony Hale. The film’s original music is composed by Randy Newman (Monsters, Inc., A Bug’s Life, Cars, The Natural, Avalon). Also opening wide is the horror movie Child’s Play directed by Lars Klevberg and starring Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman and Mark Hamill. Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day) has composed the film’s original score. Also opening nationwide is the action thriller Anna written and directed by Luc Benson and starring Sasha Luss, Helen Mirren, Luke Evans and Cillian Murphy. The film’s original music is composed by Eric Serra (Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, GoldenEye, La Femme Nikita, Lucy). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released next month by Idol Records. Opening in limited release is the musical drama Wild Rose directed by Tom Harper and starring Jessie Buckley, Sophie Okonedo and Julie Walters. Jack C. Arnold (Albatross, Loaded) has composed the film’s original score. Universal-Island Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie performed by Buckley. Also opening in U.S. theaters is the thriller The Command directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Léa Seydoux, Peter Simonischek, Max Von Sydow and Colin Firth. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening in limited release is the comedy drama Burn Your Maps written and directed by Jordan Roberts and starring Jacob Tremblay, Vera Farmiga, Suraj Sharma, Virginia Madsen and Marton Csokas. The film’s original music is composed by Jonathan Goldsmith (Take This Waltz, Casino Jack, Away from Her). No soundtrack album has been released. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the comedy adventure The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir directed by Ken Scott and starring Dhanush, Erin Moriarty, Berenice Bejo, Barkhad Abdi, Gerard Jugnot, Abel Jafri and Ben Miller. Nicolas Errèra (Hidden Man, Shaolin, Mountain Cry, Sleepless Night) has composed the film’s original music. Another limited release this week is the documentary Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders about the life and works of the acclaimed novelist. The film’s original score is composed by Kathryn Bostic (Dear White People, Clemency, Middle of Nowhere). No soundtrack album has been announced.
