Will Bates (The Looming Tower, The Path, I Origins, The Magicians, Nightflyers) is composing the original score for the upcoming indie drama The Sound of Silence. The film is directed by Michael Tyburski and stars Peter Sarsgaard, Rashida Jones, Tony Revolori and Austin Pendleton. The movie revolves around a successful “house tuner” in New York City, who calibrates the sound in people’s homes in order to adjust their moods, as he meets a client with a problem he can’t solve. Tyburski also co-wrote the screenplay with Ben Nabors who is also producing the project with Michael Prall (The Strange Ones), Tariq Merhab (Shangri-La Suite), Charlie Scully, Mandy Tagger Brockey (A Late Quartet) and Adi Ezroni (Saturday Church). The Sound of Silence will premiere in January at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
Bates’ upcoming feature projects also include the documentary The Inventor: Out For Blood In Silicon Valley. The film directed by Alex Gibney and focuses on Elizabeth Holmes who became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire with a magical new invention that promised to revolutionize blood testing. Gibney is also producing the film with Jessie Deeter and Erin Edeiken. Bates has collaborated with the director on numerous projects, including We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks, Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine and Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief. The Inventor will also premiere at next year’s Sundance Film Festival.
