Composer Matthew Margeson is reuniting with director Dexter Fletcher on the upcoming biographical drama Rocketman. The film stars Taron Egerton as Elton John, Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden and music manager John Reid, as well as Bryce Dallas Howard as John’s mother. The movie explores John’s emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a music superstar and his partnership with songwriting collaborator Taupin. Lee Hall (War Horse, Billy Elliot) wrote the screenplay. Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: The Last Stand, Kick-Ass) is producing the project with John and his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish (Gnomeo & Juliet). Margeson has previously scored Fletcher’s last feature, Eddie the Eagle. He also co-scored the Vaughn-directed Kingsman movies and the Vaughn-produced sequel Kick-Ass 2Rocketman is set to be released on May 17, 2019 by Paramount Pictures.

Margeson (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, RingsTruth or Dare) also continues to score the TBS comedy Wrecked, which will return for its third season on August 7.
