Jeff Russo is set to reteam with writer/director/producer Noah Hawley on the upcoming sci-fi drama Pale Blue Dot. The film marks Hawley’s feature directorial debut and will star Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Dan Stevens and Ellen Burstyn. The movie follows a female astronaut who, after coming back home from a mission in space, starts to unravel when confronted by her seemingly-perfect life. Brian C. Brown (Edge of Tomorrow, Get on Up) and Elliott DiGuiseppi have written the screenplay. Reese Witherspoon & Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies, Wild) are producing the Fox Searchlight production. Russo has previously collaborated with Hawley on all episodes of FX’s Fargo (for which he won his first Emmy Award last year) and Legion, as well as ABC’s The Unusuals and My Generation. Pale Blue Dot is shooting this summer and is expected to be released in 2019.

Russo’s upcoming feature projects also include Peter Berg’s Mile 22 starring Mark Wahlberg (to be released on August 17). He also scored the thriller Chloe Sevigny- & Kristen Stewart-starring thriller Lizzie, which is set  to open in theaters on September 14.
