Nima Fakhrara has been tapped to score the upcoming indie romantic comedy Simple Wedding. The film is co-written and directed by Sara Zandieh and stars Tara Grammy, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Christopher O’Shea, Rita Wilson (who also serves as an executive producer), Maz Jobrani, Houshang Touzie, Peter Mackenzie, Rebecca Henderson, Aleque Reid, Angela Gibbs and James Eckhouse. The movie revolves around a millennial Persian girl navigating a cross-cultural relationship. Zandieh is also producing the project with Ray Moheet and Norman Aladjem (Firewalker) for Mainstay Entertainment. Simple Wedding is expected to premiere later this year.
Fakhrara (The Signal, The Pyramid, The Girl in the Photograph, The Courier) also has the comedy Danger One, the drama Desolate, as well as the sci-fi thriller White Space starring Holt McCallany (co-scored with Navid Hejazi) coming up. The composer has also recently scored the upcoming documentary Roll Red Roll. The movie is directed by Nancy Schwartzman and explores the aftermath of a notorious high school sexual assault at a pre-season football party in small-town Ohio. Schwartzman is also producing the project with Jessica Devaney and Steven Lake. Roll Red Roll will premiere next month at the Tribeca Film Festival.
