Netflix announced today that Christopher Curtis, Marjorie Duffield and Helen Park are writing original songs for the upcoming animated feature Over the Moon. The film is directed by Glen Keane (Dear Basketball) and follows a girl who builds a rocket ship and blasts off to the moon in hopes of meeting a legendary Moon Goddess. Audrey Wells (Shall We Dance, Under the Tuscan Sun) wrote the screenplay. Gennie Rim (Dear Basketball, Duet) is producing the Pearl Studios production. Janet Yang (Joy Luck Club, People Vs Larry Flynt) serves as the executive producer. Curtis is best known for his work on the stage production Chaplin: The Musical and Park for composing the music for the Off-Broadway musical KPOP. Over the Moon is set to be released theatrically in 2020 in China and on Netflix in other markets.
