Austin Wintory is reteaming with director Paul Solet on the upcoming thriller De Niro (aka Unchained). The film is written and directed by Solet and stars Adrien Brody, John Malkovich, Antonio Banderas, Ori Pfeffer and Alexandra Dinu. The movie follows three career criminals who trap themselves in a warehouse with the law closing in, and run into the attack dog named DeNiro. Solet is also producing the Millennium Films production with Yariv Lerner, Les Weldon (The Expendables, London Has Fallen), Milos Djukelic, Rick Benattar (Shoot ‘Em Up), Raphael Swann, Victor Shapiro (Mediterranea) and David Gardner. Wintory has previously collaborated with Solet on several projects, including the features Grace and Dark Summer. De Niro is currently in post-production. No word yet on a premiere date.
Wintory’s upcoming movie projects also include the indie drama Legacy. The film is directed by David A. Armstrong and stars Justin Chatwin, Peter Stormare and Mark Thompson. The movie revolves around a rookie Cleveland detective who works to solve his first major case while under the watchful eye of a ghost-like assassin. Edward Cornett and Valerie Grant wrote the screenplay. William K. Baker is producing the project. Legacy is expected to premiere later this year.
The composer has also recently scored the drama Dog Years written and directed by Adam Rifkin and starring Ariel Winter, Burt Reynolds, Chevy Chase, Clark Duke, Ellar Coltrane and Juston Street. The movie premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and was picked up by A24 and DirecTV for domestic distribution.
