George Kallis has been hired to score the upcoming historical drama Cliffs of Freedom. The film marks the feature directorial debut of visual effects artist Van Ling and stars Christopher Plummer, Tania Raymonde, Patti LuPone, Kevin Corrigan, Jan Uddin, Billy Zane and Raza Jeffrey. The movie centers on the ill-fated romance between a Greek village girl and a conflicted Turkish officer during the dawn of the Greek War for Independence against the Ottoman Empire in 1821. Ling also wrote the screenplay based on a story by Marianne Metropoulos who is producing the project with Casey Cannon. Cliffs of Freedom is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date.
Kallis whose recent projects include The Black Prince, Albion: The Enchanted Stallion and 93 Days also has the Russian fantasy adventure The Last Knight (Posledni Bogatyr) coming up. The film is directed by Dmitry Dyachenko and marks Disney’s first local language production in Russia in almost a decade. Victor Chorinyak, Mila Sivatskaya, Ekaterina Vilkova and Elena Yakovleva are starring in the movie, which is set to be released this October in Russia.
