Ilan Eshkeri is composing the music for the upcoming period drama The Kaiser’s Last Kiss. The film is directed by David Leveaux and stars Lily James, Jai Courtney, Christopher Plummer, Janet McTeer, Eddie Marsan and Ben Daniels. The movie follows a German soldier who tries to determine if the Dutch resistance has planted a spy to infiltrate the home of Kaiser Wilhelm in Holland during the onset of World War II, but falls for a young Jewish Dutch woman during his investigation. Simon Burke (Persuasion) has written the screenplay based on Alan Judd’s novel. Judy Tossell (Hector and the Search for Happiness) and Lou Pitt (Hollywood Homicide) are producing the project. The Kaiser’s Last Kiss is expected to premiere later this year.
Eshkeri also has the family adventure Swallows and Amazons (set for a release in the UK on August 19), the thriller Collide starring Felicity Jones & Nicholas Hoult, as well as the comedy drama Measure of a Man coming up. He also scored the upcoming documentary Dancer directed by Steven Cantor about ballet dancer Sergei Polunin. The movie will be released in select theaters and on VOD on September 16 by IFC Films.
