Brian Reitzell is composing the music for the upcoming indie drama Kicks. The film is directed by Justin Tipping and stars Jahking Guillory, Mahershala Ali, Kofi Siriboe, Christopher Jordan Wallace and Christopher Meyer. The movie follows a fifteen-year old boy and his two best friends who go on an ill-advised mission across the Bay Area to retrieve the a pair of sneakers that were stolen by a local hood. Tipping has also written the screenplay with Josh Beirne-Golden. David Kaplan (It Follows), Joshua Astrachan (Short Term 12, A Prairie Home Companion) and Adele Romanski (The Myth of the American Sleepover, Black Rock) are producing the project. Reitzell’s previous scoring credits include Friday Night Lights, Lost in Translation, Stranger Than Fiction, Beginners and NBC’s Hannibal. Kicks will premiere next month as one of the opening films of the Tribeca Film Festival.
