Alex Heffes has been tapped to score the upcoming Hulu event series 11/22/63. The show is based on Stephen King’s 2011 novel of the same title and stars James Franco, Sarah Gadon, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Daniel Webber, Chris Cooper, Cherry Jones, George MacKay, Lucy Fry, Jack Fulton and Leon Rippy. The 9-parter follows a high school English teacher who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, but his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald and his falling in love and the past itself. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek, Super 8) and King are executive producing the Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television production with Bridget Carpenter (The Red Road) and Bryan Burk (Lost, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Star Trek Into Darkness). Kevin Macdonald (The Eagle, Black Sea) is directing the first two episodes of the series. The director has previously collaborated with Heffes on the features The Last King of Scotland, State of Play and Touching the Void. 11/22/63 is expected to premiere in early 2016 on Hulu.
As previously reported, Heffes also has the action thriller Bastille Day starring Idris Elba coming up. The composer has also scored Stephen Frears’ Lance Armstrong biopic The Program, which will have its world premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival.
