Universal Music will release a soundtrack album for Brian Helgeland’s crime drama Legend. The album features selections from the film’s original music composed by Carter Burwell (Fargo, Twilight, True Grit, Being John Malkovich, Carol). Also included are the songs from and inspired by the film by such artists as The Meters, Duffy, Georgie Fame, Rod Stewart, Burt Bacharach, Poncho Sanchez, The Rockin’ Berries, Booker T & The Mg’s, The Righteous Brothers & more. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 11, 2015. The domestic release is set for October 2 and features 14 tracks from the album. Visit Amazon to download the soundtrack. Legend is written and directed by Helgeland and stars Tom Hardy, Emily Browning, David Thewlis, Aneurin Barnard, Colin Morgan, Paul Anderson, Christopher Eccleston, Chazz Palminteri and Tara Fitzgerald. The movie follows the rise and fall of the Kray twins, notorious gangsters who dominated London crime in the sixties. The drama will be released in the U.S. on October 2, 2015 by Universal Pictures. A two-disc set and only THREE score tracks? I am SO sick of ’60s movies OD’ing on songs from the time.
So then you hate most films from a previous decade because they all do it. Scores are usually their own disc now any way.
LOL, it’s funny when you really think of it: “songs from and inspired by”? Can you hear the random current fart-in-the-wind song artist saying, “Yeah, hello big-time movie studio, I was so inspired by your film that hasn’t opened and therefore couldn’t have seen that I made a song for it! Yes, it’s purely coincidental I’m signed with a label that okay to sign with your studio, and wow — I got the song done in time for the 2CD set nobody asked for! Neat, huh? What the hell is this movie about again?”
I guess Universal feels obliged to mess up soundtrack albums for movies called “Legend.”
All that’s left to do is replace Burwell’s score in the U.S. cut.
Quite surprised that Morrissey’s ‘The Last of The Famous International Playboy’ isn’t selected/doesn’t make the list even though the song is literally about the Kray twins!!!
Morrissey may not have given permission for his song to be used.
Dawn Yawn classic Georgie. in my opinion the best of british. He used the money he made to finance a big band lp and this cut comes from that. It’s Elvis Costello’s favourite lp, it’s called Sound Venture.
