Gabriel Yared is scoring the upcoming French biographical period drama Chocolat. The film is directed by actor Roschdy Zem and stars Omar Sy, James Thierree and Clothilde Hesme. The movie tells the life story of Padilla, aka Chocolat, who became the first black artist to appear on a French stage in the 19th century and centers around his lifelong friendship with a white artist nicknamed Footit. Eric and Nicolas Altmayer (Saint Laurent, In the House, The New Girlfriend) are producing the Mandarin Cinema production. Chocolat is expected to premiere later this year.
