Alexandre Desplat is set to reteam with director Stephen Frears on the upcoming comedy drama Florence Foster Jenkins. The film stars Meryl Streep in the title role, alongside Hugh Grant as her partner St Clair Bayfield, as well as Simon Helberg, Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda. The movie tells the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great opera singer despite having a terrible voice. Nicholas Martin wrote the screenplay. Michael Kuhn (Suite Francaise, The Duchess) is producing the BBC Films, Pathe and Qwerty Films alongside Tracey Seaward (Philomena, The Queen). Desplat and Frears have previously collaborated on the features The Queen and Philomena, for both of which the composer received an Academy Award nomination, as well as Cheri and Tamara Drewe. Florence Foster Jenkins is currently shooting in the UK.
