The International Film Music Festival of the Province of Córdoba has announced the lineup for their 11th edition, which will take place from July 19 to 26, 2015 in Córdoba, Spain. Academy Award winner Howard Shore will be the special guest of the festival, which will feature two nights of composer’s music, including a concert featuring Shore’s score from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and a career retrospective featuring music from the composer’s long-standing collaborations with directors Martin Scorsese (Hugo, The Aviator, The Departed) and David Cronenberg (The Fly, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises). In addition, Emmy Award-winner Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Marvel’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Da Vinci’s Demons) will receive the third annual Elmer Bernstein Award. The festival will feature two nights of music from the composer, both at one of the orchestral concerts and a chamber concert on Sunday night featuring The Calder Quartet. In conjunction with the Berklee College of Music, Valencia, the festival will also be creating a new award, named after Howard Shore to recognize the contributions of an up-and-coming Berklee alumnus. Also being celebrated this year are composers David Shire (All the President’s Men, Zodiac) and Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Ip Man). Murray Gold (Doctor Who) was previously named the Honorary President for the 11th Edition. For updates on the event, visit the official festival website.
