Premiering tomorrow, May 25, is the History mini-series Texas Rising directed by Roland Joffe and starring Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser, Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olivier Martinez, Thomas Jane, Crispin Glover and Jeremy Davies. The show’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2) and Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Tombstone). Universal Music Group Nashville has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the original song Take Me To Texas written by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, as well as a cover version of Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down performed by Kris Kristofferson and the original piece Igual Que Yo performed by guitarist José Feliciano earlier this week. Also making its U.S. premiere on Memorial Day is the drama Grace of Monaco directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman, Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia. Christopher Gunning (La Vie En Rose) has composed the film’s original score and Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill) has contributed additional music. Hamburger Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music, as well as classical pieces by Erik Satie, Jean Sibelius and more last year. Premiering on Thursday, May 28 is the new NBC drama Aquarius created by Sean McNamara and starring David Duchovny, Gethin Anthony, Grey Damon, Emma Dumont and Claire Holt. The show’s original music is composed by W.G. Snuffy Walden (The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, Under the Dome, thirty something). Aquarius takes place in the 1960s and follows a cop who goes undercover to track Charles Manson and the Manson Family before their infamous murder spree. Making its U.S. premiere on Friday, May 29 on HBO is the drama Nightingale directed by Elliott Lester, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner and starring David Oyelowo. Mark D. Todd has composed the film’s original music. Nightingale follows a war veteran whose life begins to unravel as he lives in isolation. Premiering on Saturday, May 30 is the Lifetime mini-series The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe directed by Laurie Collyer and starring Kelli Garner, Susan Sarandon, Emily Watson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Eva Amurri Martino. The 2-parter’s original music is composed by David Carbonara (Mad Men, Vegas, The Guru, Are You Here).
