Jeff Beal is composing the music for the third and final season of HBO’s The Newsroom. The show is created by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network) and stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn. The series follows the members of a cable news team on their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of a fickle audience, corporate mandates and tangled personal relationships. Alex Wurman has previously scored the show’s first season, while Johnny Klimek composed the music for the second season. Thomas Newman provided the series’ main titles theme. Beal has previously scored such HBO shows as Rome and Carnivale. The final season of The Newsroom is set to premiere on November 9, 2014 and will air every Sunday night on HBO. Beal is also returning to score the third season of Netflix’s House of Cards. The composer received three Emmy Award nominations for his work on the first two seasons.
