Universal Music will release a soundtrack album for the British comedy drama Pride. The album features numerous 80s hits from and inspired by the film by such artists as Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bronski Beat, Wham, Pet Shop Boys, King, Soft Cell, Queen, Culture Club, Grace Jones, UB40, Smokey Robinson and more. Also included are three tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Christopher Nightingale The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 15, 2014. Check back on this page for the domestic release date. Pride is directed by Matthew Warchus and stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Paddy Considine, Andrew Scott, Joseph Gilgun, George MacKay and Ben Schnetzer. The movie tells the story of a group of gay and lesbian activists who work to help miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in select cities on September 19 by CBS Films. To learn more about the film, visit the official movie website.
