Lorne Balfe has signed on to score the upcoming thriller Captive. The film is directed by Jerry Jameson and stars David Oyelowo, Kate Mara, Leonor Varela and Mimi Rogers. The movie centers on the true story of Brian Nichols who broke out of a courthouse jail in 2005 and shot dead the judge assigned to his case as well as a court reporter, sheriff’s deputy and FBI officer. Brian Bird (Not Easily Broken) and Reinhard Denke have written the screenplay based on Ashley Smith’s bestselling book An Unlikely Angel. Oyelowo is also producing the project with Alex Garcia (Saving Private Perez), Lucas Akoskin, Terry Botwick and Ken Wales (Amazing Grace, Wild Rovers). Jameson has previously directed numerous TV movies, TV show episodes and features such as Airport ’77 and Raise the Titanic, which was scored by John Barry. Captive is currently in post-production. No release date has been set yet.
As previously reported, Balfe’s upcoming feature film credits also include DreamWorks Animation’s The Penguins of Madagascar and the biblical drama Son of God.
