Nicholas Hooper has signed on to score the upcoming BBC three part drama The Escape Artist. The legal thriller is created and written by David Wolstencroft (Spooks, Shooting Dogs) and stars David Tennant, Toby Kebbell, Sophie Okonedo and Ashley Jensen. The mini-series follows a talented junior barrister who specializes in spiriting people out of tight legal corners. When his talents acquit the prime suspect in a horrific murder trial, that brilliance comes back to bite him with unexpected results. Brian Welsh (Black Mirror, In Our Name) is directing the show and Hilary Bevan Jones (State Of Play, Pirate Radio) and Paul Frift (Restless) are producing the project. David Wolstencroft and Matthew Read are executive producing for BBC. The Escape Artist is set to premiere later this year on BBC One.
Hooper’s previous scoring credits include Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, David Yates’ State of Play and The Girl in the Cafe and Disneynature’s African Cats and Chimpanzee. The composer has also scored Discovery Channel’s original mini-series North America narrated by Tom Selleck, which premiered this past May in the US.
