‘Endeavour’ Soundtrack Announced

endeavourSony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the detective drama Endeavour. The album features one track from the show’s original score composed by Barrington Pheloung (Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl), as well as numerous classical pieces used in the series. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on May 6, 2013 (visit Amazon to order the CD version as an import). No word yet on a domestic release date. Endeavour created by Russell Lewis based on characters created by Colin Dexter and stars Shaun Evans, Roger Allam and Patrick Malahide. The series is set as a prequel to Inspector Morse and follows the young detective Endeavour Morse and his partner Detective Inspector Fred Thursday. The pilot episode premiered last year on ITV in the UK and on PBS in the US. Four new episodes will be airing in the UK over the next couple of weeks.

    I love this show and have learned a lot about classical music for watching/listening. What I want to know is WHO is the young dark haired woman singer during the opening credits of the episode entitled “Home. Gorgeous voice and gorgeous song!!!

      Her name is Rachel D’Arcy and you can see some more of her singing on youtube. I agree, she is wonderful and suited the episode perfectly!

      Opening scene of voice over choir singing while men in the snow are lifting up “Booth Hill” site plan.
      I don’t see this on the Sony CD that’s coming out. Does anyone know the name of this piece? It’s really beautiful!

      The piece in the first episode at the very beginning is “Kyrie” of Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor.
      Took me waaay to long to figure it out!

    Which song plays when Morse and the girl climb the stairs and enter the room and then switches off the radio? It occurs in the episode “Girl”?
    It has a haunting quality, i really want to know the name of the song.

    I wish the series producers would create a web page that lists the pieces used in each episode that they update as the series progresses. It would make identifying them so much simpler.

    Regarding Endeavour Series Two, Episode Two: Trove, What is the music played at the beginning of the episode, shortly after crediting Barrington Pheloung with all music? I want to say Mahler or Sibelius perhaps, but I can’t place it.

      Linda D. Lewis: I had to find it as well. Rachmaninoff’s Morceaux de fantaisie, Op. 3: Prelude in C sharp minor, Op. 3, No. 2.

      There were 5 in total that Rachmaninov composed for piano.
