James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Fugitive, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Maleficent, The Village) & Xander Rodzinski (Willow, Dead for a Dollar, Bolt from the Blue) have teamed up to compose the music for the upcoming Netflix original documentary Marty, Life Is Short. The film is directed by Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill, Silverado) and centers on beloved comedian Martin Short. The movie features intimate, never-before-seen archive footage alongside interviews with some of the most established and beloved stars and takes a look at one of the most influential comedians of a generation. Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John & Justin Wilkes (Music by John Williams, Jim Henson: Idea Man) and Blair Foster (Silver Dollar Road) are producing the project for Imagine Documentaries. Ron Howard & Brian Grazer (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind) serve as executive producers. Howard has previously collaborated with Kasdan on the narrative features Grand Canyon, Wyatt Earp, French Kiss, Mumford, Dreamcatcher & Darling Companion. He also co-scored the director’s documentary series Light & Magic with Rodzinski & Michael Dean Parsons. Marty, Life Is Short will premiere on May 12, 2026 exclusively on Netflix.
