Chad Fischer has signed on to score the upcoming ABC drama Scandal. The show is created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy) and stars Kerry Washington as a former media relations consultant to the President who leaves the White House to open her own firm, hoping to start a new career and a new personal life. Henry Ian Cusick, Columbus Short, Guillermo Diaz, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Tony Goldwyn and Jeff Perry are co-starring. Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Push) directed the pilot. Rhimes is executive producing the show with Betsy Beer. Fischer is currently also scoring the Rhimes-produced ABC hit show Private Practice, which is entering its fifth season later this month. Scandal is set to debut as a mid-season replacement show in early 2012. For updates on the project, visit ABC’s official show website.

Fischer is best known for his music for the indie hit Garden State and his theme for the TV comedy Scrubs. The composer has also recently written the score for the feature comedy 10 Years. The movie is written and directed by Jamie Linden (screenwriter of We Are Marshall and Dear John) and stars Channing Tatum, Rosario Dawson, Justin Long, Kate Mara, Oscar Isaac, Ron Livingstone, Max Minghella, Lynn Collins, Ari Graynor, Chris Pratt and Antony Mackie. The film centers on a group of high school friends who meet again at their high school reunion and discover that the passing of time changes some things – and others not at all. Tatum is also producing the project with Reid Carolin, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Ten Year recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is currently awaiting a domestic distribution deal and a release date.
