Only one new movie is opening wide this weekend:
Matthew Vaughn’s comic book adaptation X-Men: First Class starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence and Rosamunde Pike is expected to top the weekend box office. The film’s music is written by Henry Jackman and a soundtrack album has been released digitally earlier this week by Sony Classical. A physical release will follow on June 28. Opening in limited release is the dramedy Beginners directed by Mike Mills and starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Melanie Laurent. The film’s score is composed by Roger Neill, David Palmer and Brian Reitzell. The movie also features a number of songs. Also opening in limited release is the drama Beautiful Boy directed by Shawn Ku and starring Michael Sheen, Maria Bello, Alan Tudyk and Moon Bloodgood. Trevor Morris has scored the film, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival. No soundtrack album has been announced, but eight lengthy tracks from the score can be listened to on Morris’ official website. Opening in select cities is the comedy Love, Wedding, Marriage. The film centers on a newlywed marriage counselor whose views on wedded bliss get thrown for a loop when she finds out her parents are getting divorced. The movie is directed by Dermot Mulroney and stars Mandy Moore, Kellan Lutz, Jane Seymour and James Brolin. The music is composed by Blake Neely (Life as We Know It, The Pacific) and no soundtrack release has been announced. The film is also available on video on demand. Finally, also receiving a limited release is the comedy drama Submarine directed by Richard Ayoade and starring Noah Taylor, Paddy Considine, Craig Roberts, Yasmin Page and Sally Hawkins. Ben Stiller is among the film’s producers. Submarine features a score by Andrew Hewitt, as well as songs by Alex Turner.
