Screen Daily (via The Playlist) reports that David Holmes is set to write the music for the upcoming movie Good Vibrations. Holmes is also on the producing team of the film, which tells the story of Terri Hooley, Belfast’s godfather of punk. The project marks the composer’s feature producing debut. Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa, the duo behind 2009’s Cherrybomb is directing the project. Richard Dormer, Michael Fassbender, Steve Coogan, Robert Sheehan and Bronagh Gallagher are set to star in the picture. Andrew Eaton (24 Hour Party People, A Might Heart) is among the film’s other producers. Good Vibrations is due to start filming this summer in Belfast and a release of the movie in 2012 seems likely.
As reported last year, Holmes also has Steven Soderbergh’s action thriller Haywire coming up this year. The movie starring Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton and Antonio Banderas has been bought back by Relativity Media from Lionsgate since our last update. The film is rumored to be released this August, but no release date has been confirmed.
