Segun Akinola (Doctor Who, The Last Tree, 9/11: Inside the President’s War Room, Stephen) has recently scored the new BBC drama Murder Is Easy. The 2-parter is written by Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre based on Agatha Christie’s classic novel and stars David Jonsson, Penelope Wilton, Morfydd Clark, Tom Riley, Douglas Henshall, Mathew Baynton, Mark Bonnar, Nimra Bucha, Phoebe Licorish and Tamzin Outhwait. The thriller directed by Meenu Gaur (Zinda Bhaag) follows a man who arrives in England and unexpectedly finds himself investigating a series of suspicious deaths, determined to prove that they are not accidents but murders. Ejiwunmi-Le Berre is also executive producing the Mammoth Screen production with Damien Timmer (Poldark, World on Fire) and James Gandhi (Tom Jones, Noughts + Crosses), James Prichard (The Pale Horse, The ABC Murders) for Agatha Christie Limited, Jenny Frayn for the BBC and Reemah Sakaan  & Stephen Nye (Payback) for BritBox International. Murder Is Easy will premiere in the UK on December 27 on BBC One.

Akinola has also recently composed the original score for the biographical drama Girl You Know It’s True directed by Simon Verhoeven and starring Tijan Njie, Elan Ben Ali, Matthias Schweighöfer, Graham Rogers, Bella Dayne, Ashley Dowds and Tijan Marei. The movie, which chronicles the rise of Robert Pilatus und Fabrice Morvan (aka Milli Vanilli), will open in German theaters next Thursday, December 21. A soundtrack album featuring Akinola’s score will be announced soon.
