Songwriter Elyssa Samsel is making her feature film scoring debut on the upcoming comedy drama Miller’s Girl. The film is written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett and stars Martin Freeman, Jenna Ortega, Dagmara Domińczyk, Bashir Salahuddin, and Gideon Adlon. The movie follows a talented young writer who embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web.Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg & James Weaver (This Is the End, Good Boys) Josh Fagen (Joy Ride, Cobweb) are producing the project with Mary-Margaret Kunze (The Thing About Pam). Samsel who is known for co-writing the score for the stage musicals Between the Lines & The Book Thief has previously contributed original songs (with Kate Anderson) to Apple TV+’s Central Park, the Disney short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, among other projects. The dramedy will premiere at next year’s Palm Springs Film Festival before being released in theaters nationwide on January 26, 2024 by Lionsgate.
