Premiering tonight is the second season of the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty created by Max Borenstein & Jim Hecht and starring John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffmann, Hadley Robinson, Jason Segel, Michael Chiklis and Rob Morgan. Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock) has joined Robert Glasper (who shared scoring credit on Season 1 with Nicholas Britell) to co-score the new season. The drama will air Sunday nights on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.

Premiering on Wednesday, August 9, is the Apple TV+ original animated series Strange Planet created by Dan Harmon & Nathan W. Pyle and starring Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Danny Pudi, Lori Tan Chinn and Hannah Einbinder. Isabella Summers (Little Fires Everywhere, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, The Offer, Physical, Sex/LifeCall Jane) has composed the show’s original music. Premiering on Thursday, August 10, is the Netflix limited series Painkiller created by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster and starring Matthew Broderick, Uzo Aduba, Dina Shihabi, West Duchovny, Taylor Kitsch, Clark Gregg, John Rothman, Sam Anderson and Jack Mulhern. The show’s original music is composed by Matt Morton (Apollo 11, Why Did You Kill Me?, Dinosaur 13). Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Friday. Also premiering on Thursday is the Paramount+ original movie Love in Taipei directed by Arvin Chen and starring Ashley Liao, Ross Butler,  Chelsea Zhang, Nico Hiraga and Cindy Cheung. Roger Suen (Blue Bayou, Gook, Spy Intervention, The Retirement Plan, A Kid from Coney Island, Ms. Purple) has composed the film’s original score. Also premiering on Thursday is the Netflix original animated series Mech Cadets based on the Mech Cadet Yu graphic novels and starring Brandon Soo Hoo, Aparna Brielle, Daniel Dae Kim, Victoria Grace, Anairis Quiñones, Josh Sundquist, Robbie Daymond and Ming-Na Wen.The show’s original music is composed by Max Aruj (Crawl, The Ice Road, The Tank, iBoyLansky). Netflix Music has released a digital single featuring three tracks from the composer’s score this past Friday (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download) and a full soundtrack album will be announced soon. The series will be available to stream on Netflix.

Premiering on Friday, August 11, is the Amazon original movie Red, White & Royal Blue is co-written and directed by Matthew López and starring Nicholas Galitzine, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Uma Thurman, Stephen Fry, Sarah Shahi and Clifton Collins Jr. Drum & Lace (DickinsonRosaline, Cobweb, Night TeethGood Girls) has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music and two songs on Friday.
