Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain,The Last of Us, BabelThe Motorcycle DiariesThe Book of Life) and Juan Luqui (Monsterland, Wild Life, The Fight) have teamed up to score the upcoming German Netflix limited series Dear Child (Liebes Kind). The show is written and directed by Isabel Kleefeld & Julian Pörksen and stars Kim Riedle, Naila Schuberth, Sammy Schrein, Haley Louise Jones, Hans Löw, Justus von Dohnányi, Birge Schade, Julika Jenkins, Seraphina Maria Schweiger, Christian Beermann, Özgür Karadeniz and Jeanne Goursaud. The 6-part psychological thriller is based on the novel of the same title by Romy Hausmann and follows a woman who escapes a highly secured home, where she has lived for over a decade in complete isolation with two children. Tom Spiess (The Miracle of Bern, Contra) and Friederich Oetker (The Conference, Rumspringa) are producing the Constantin Television production. Dear Child will premiere on September 7, 2023 on Netflix.

Santaolalla is also expected to be involved in scoring the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us.
