David Newman (Ice Age, Anastasia, Serenity, Galaxy Quest, The FlintstonesThe Nutty Professor, The War of the Roses) has been hired to score the upcoming British comedy Arthur’s Whisky. The film is directed by Stephen Cookson (Brighton) and stars Diane Keaton, Patricia Hodge, Lulu, David Harewood OBE, Boy George, Bill Paterson, Hayley Mills, Adil Ray, Esme Lonsdale, Lawrence Chaney, Genevieve Gaunt and Hannah Howland. The movie follows a woman who discovers that her deceased husband had invented an anti-aging elixir, which makes the drinker look young again and shares it with her two friends. Alexis Zegerman wrote the screenplay. Cookson is also producing the project with CK Films’ Peter Keegan (Brighton) and CrossDay Productions’ Pippa Cross (Summer in February, Made in Italy). Arthur’s Whisky will premiere in the UK later this year on Sky Cinema. No domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.

    Splendid news. What I wouldn’t give to have Newman scoring several movies a year like in the good ol’ days.
