Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Godzilla vs. Kong, Divergent, Black Mass, Alita: Battle Angel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice) is returning to score the upcoming adventure comedy Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The film is directed by Jeff Fowler and stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally and Jim Carrey. No plot details have been announced yet. Pat Casey & Josh Miller and John Whittington wrote the screenplay for the sequel based on a story by Casey & Miller. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious series, 21 Jump Street) & Toby Ascher (Spenser Confidential) are producing the project with Toru Nakahara and Hitoshi Okuno. Tim Miller who collaborated with Holkenborg on the features Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate serves as an executive producer. Holkenborg’s score for last year’s original film was released by Paramount Music and La-La Land Records. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be released in theaters nationwide on April 8, 2022 by Paramount Pictures.
Holkenborg also has George Miller’s Ten Thousand Years of Longing and Simon Kinberg’s The 355 (to be released in theaters on January 7, 2022) coming up. He is also attached to score George Miller’s Furiosa, which is currently scheduled to come out on May 24, 2024 .
Fantastic, his score for the first movie was epic, hope the sequel continues that tradition
