Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the British drama The Children Act. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Quills, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Billy Elliot, Proof). The soundtrack will be available digitally tomorrow, September 14. Visit Amazon to download the album and listen to two tracks after the jump. The Children Act is directed by Richard Eyre and stars Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Fionn Whitehead. The movie is based on the novel by Ian McEwan about a high-court judge who finds personal and professional crises colliding when she is asked to rule in the case of a brilliant 18-year-old boy who is refusing the blood transfusion that would save his life. The drama premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select U.S. theaters this weekend by A24 following a debut on DirecTV last month. The movie is now also playing in theaters in various European markets, including the UK.
