Ruth Barrett is composing the music for the upcoming BBC drama Bodyguard. The show is created by Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty) and stars Richard Madden, Keeley Hawes, Gina McKee, Sophie Rundle, Vincent Franklin and Rowena King. The 6-part thriller tells the story of a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch (RaSP) of London’s Metropolitan Police Service. Mercurio is also executive producing the project with Simon Heath for World Productions and Elizabeth Kilgarriff for BBC. Bodyguard will premiere later this year in the UK on BBC One.
Barrett (Victoria, Harry Brown, Toast, Hunted) has also recently scored the BBC mini-series Collateral starring Carey Mulligan, which premiered earlier this month in the U.S. on Netflix.
