Jeff Russo has signed on to score the upcoming action thriller Mile 22. The film is directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor, Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon) and stars Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan, John Malkovich, Iko Uwais and Ronda Rousey. The movie centers on an elite American intelligence officer who, when aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country. Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) and Lea Carpenter have written the screenplay. Berg and Wahlberg are also producing the project with Stephen Levinson (Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, Contraband). Mile 22 is set to be released on July 20, 2018 by STX Entertainment.
The composer’s recent feature projects also include the thriller Lizzie, which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Saban Films & Roadside Attractions for a release later this year. Russo (Fargo, The Night Of) also continues to score FX’s Legion, CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery, Starz’s Counterpart & Power and FX’s Snowfall, among other shows.
